Nicholas BissenNicholas Bissen is a musician of many disciplines, currently teaching Saxophone at Stephen F. Austin State University and the surrounding areas. He is from Warrensburg, Missouri, where he received his Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental and Vocal music at the University of Central Missouri.

It was there that Nicholas developed a passion for his multifaceted collaboration in several mediums, such as: solo performance, chamber music, conducting, and arranging.  While collaborating at UCM, Nicholas performed Robert Ward’s Concerto for Tenor Saxophone with UCM’s Symphonic Orchestra, won Missouri State MTNA with the Essig Saxophone Quartet, directed and programmed eight performances with the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Men’s Chorus, cultivated a broad and enriching teaching studio of woodwind and voice students, and premiered a saxophone quartet arrangement of Beethoven’s Sonata No. 21 in C major, “Waldstein.” Nicholas further cultivated his craft at the University of Cincinnati: College – Conservatory of Music, where he studied Saxophone, Conducting, and regularly exercised his arranging skills. He is co-founder and director of the CCM Behemothic Saxophone Ensemble, which he regularly arranges for, and has also performed a World Premiere by composer Joe Duran with soloist, Rick VanMatre.  Nicholas was a participant at the Frederick L . Hemke Saxophone Institute, part of the NEMC Snow Pond Music Festival for three years, and will begin his second year of teaching at NEMC this summer.
